About DreamWeek San Antonio

Revealing the genius within.

DreamWeek San Antonio (DWSA) is an annual, multi-day summit dedicated to celebrating humanity by creating environments for civil and civic engagement. Its core purpose is to foster the exchange of ideas for the common good, ultimately revealing the inherent “community genius” within San Antonio.

What drives the summit.

Three things shape DreamWeek — the mission behind it, the city that hosts it, and the nonprofit that presents it.

Mission

Mission

A more equitable and enlightened society.

Ideas become empowered through human interaction. In a city defined by its diverse cultural heritage, DreamWeek bridges the gap between people and ideas through a community curated summit. DreamWeek’s Mission is to celebrate our humanity by creating environments for civil and civic engagement to embrace ideas and dreams for the common good.

Held each January, coinciding with the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy, DreamWeek provides a broad platform for dialogue on universal issues affecting humanity. Through a diverse array of community-curated events — ranging from symposiums, panel discussions, and debates to film screenings, concerts, and art exhibits — DWSA aims to:

  • Bridge divides and create a sense of belonging for all.
  • Empower individuals with the understanding and education needed for peaceful coexistence.
  • Create networking opportunities for organizations working to better the human condition.
  • Amplify the voices of the community to inspire discussion and ignite change.

Connections

In 2013, DreamWeek San Antonio began as a spark, a vision to create a platform where the spirit of the MLK March could extend into a multi-day celebration of ideas, culture, and community. As we stand on the threshold of our 15th Anniversary in 2027, that spark has become a permanent beacon for our city. The 2027 theme honors the thousands of individual threads — the conversations, the collaborations, and the shared visions that have woven together to form the vibrant tapestry of our city today.

As the largest community-curated summit of its kind, DWSA’s 15th anniversary honors a decade and a half of transforming San Antonio into a premier hub for civic expression.

Across 17 days and 15 branded categories, Connections is what the calendar is built to produce: a hosting partner meeting the audience it did not know it had, a venue opening its doors to a neighbourhood across town, a conversation that carries on long after the room empties.

Every year I watch strangers walk into a room and leave it as collaborators. That is the whole of it. Connections is not a theme we chose so much as one this city earned.
