Arte y Pasión in conjunction with Brick at Blue Star Arts Complex will present ESTRELLAS, an installation by Tamara Adira on the genetic memory of repeat trauma carried as an American Jew. The installation is based on personal experience and is a way to work through our convictions on current events.
Estrellas will incorporate performance and visual art with flamenco forms with dancer Tamara Adira, cantaora Champion Chayito, cellist Luke William Bonecutter and spoken word artist Andrea Vocab Sanderson.
Today, there are estimated 7.4 billion people in the world; and of those, there are estimated 13.3 million Jews in the world. At 0.0018% of the population, we are reminded that we are descendants of those who survived, and those who didn’t. We are almost the level of population as what it was before the Holocaust. Events like the Holocaust continue to occur.
Our Mexican brothers and sisters at the border are experiencing what we experienced in Germany of 1942. We must face and acknowledge that this continues to happen. Now more than ever we must do our part to learn from history and prevent it from happening ever again.
