Samantha Najera talks about how she has been given a “hand up” in her experiences as an entrepreneur and how she practices paying it forward on a regular basis. We demystify the term “self-made” because we all need each other at some point or another in personal or professional lives.
ABOUT SAMANTHA NAJERA
Samantha has over 15 years of experience working in radio, TV, and film, all encompassing the marketing and public relations industry. While earning her degree in Communications from the University of the Incarnate Word, she was blessed with the opportunity to intern for Turner Studios in Atlanta, GA. During her internship she learned the many facets of television production by serving as a production assistant on various sets including TBS’s “Movie and a Makeover,” ” Dinner & A Movie,” and Cartoon Network’s “Cartoon Fridays.”
After graduating from college, she worked as a production assistant for San Antonio’s ABC Affiliate KSAT 12 News where she learned how to shoot, edit, assistant direct, and most importantly: how to write for television. Her ability to multitask under tight deadlines allowed her to create her own news reel that landed her a job as a news reporter for ABC 40 News in College Station, TX.
In November 2012, Samantha launched her own Media & Marketing firm, HeartFire Media, LLC, where she led the company to work with numerous clients including the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, The San Antonio Scorpions, University Health Systems, Pizza Patron, Salvation Army, American Heart Association and many more.
Samantha is an active member of the San Antonio community and currently serves on the Board of the Westside YMCA in San Antonio and St. Jude’s Ranch For Children- Texas. She is also graduate of Leadership San Antonio -Class 40. Samantha is the founder of “Badass of the Week” and co-founder of the “Bean & Chisme” Webshow.
