Set in 1961, 15 years after segregation was outlawed, the Freedom riders decide to travel together on bus lines in the South despite the hateful segregation they faced. This moving play demonstrates the importance of working together to affect change and, specifically, how nonviolent protest were used to focus attention on the cruelties of segregation. Recommended for students in third through eighth grade. Performance is free; however, reservations are required.
