Event Details

The annual march, organized and presented by the City of San Antonio Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission and the City of San Antonio, begins at the MLK Jr. Academy and ends at Pittman-Sullivan Park (1101 Iowa St). The nearly three-mile route down Martin Luther King Drive takes participants through San Antonio’s historic East Side in remembrance of Dr. King. In 2017, approximately 300,000 people participated in the march as part of an unforgettable experience that has become one of San Antonio’s signature events. Guest Speaker: Roland S. Martin

Roland Martin, is an American journalist, syndicated columnist with Creators Syndicate, and author. He is a commentator for TV One and the host of News One Now, a one-hour weekday morning news show on the network. He was also a CNN contributor, appearing on a variety of shows, including The Situation Room, Anderson Cooper’s AC360, and many others. Books authored by Martin include Speak, Brother! A Black Man’s View of America, Listening to the Spirit Within: 50 Perspectives on Faith and The First: President Barack Obama’s Road to the White House as originally reported by Roland S. Martin.
