YWCA San Antonio will host “The Future Is Now: Changing the Narrative About Race, Gender, and Economic Mobility,” on Saturday, January 15, to kickoff our celebration of Dreamweek. The event will take place from 9am-12pm at the Olga Madrid Center and will include a screening of videos that aim to change the narrative about race, gender, and the challenge of economic mobility. YWCA will screen several videos, including our Gates Foundation-Funded “Why Can’t They Just?” videos, new mini videos created by our youth and individuals we serve at the Mexican Consulate, and videos shared by other partners. In addition, we will have a “Story Collection” room for the collection of videos by youth, their parents, and others in the community, sharing personal stories about race and racism, gender, and economic mobility/immobility. These videos will be shared via YWCA’s Instagram and Tik Tok platforms with the community. While these events are taking place, YWCA will provide information about and distribute the COVID vaccine on site at the Center.
