The 38th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Citywide Interfaith Worship Service is presented by the San Antonio MlK Commission. Various faith groups have joined together to create a worship service with prayers, music and dance, all of which will honor the ideals and the legacy of Dr. King. Senior Rector Rev. Beth Knowlton will open the service with a welcome from St. Mark’s Church. Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller will give the invocation. Byrd Bonner will introduce the feature speaker, Dr. Melva K. Wallace, CEO and President of Huston-Tillitson University in Austin. In addition to her many recognition awards along with the combination of her traditional and innovative accomplishments within the university, it should be noted that Dr. Wallace is the founding board member for the Higher Education Leadership Foundation, which has provided leadership trading to over 500 HBCU leaders across the country.
The service, which is free and open to the public, will close with the song “We Shall Overcome.”
