The MLK Youth Empowerment Summit is an opportunity to celebrate and expand on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of equity, empowerment, and opportunity. This year’s theme, “Continuing Dr. King’s Legacy Through Innovation,” reflects our commitment to addressing systemic barriers by highlighting the contributions of historical Black figures in aviation and space.
For many, the systemic challenges of growing up in underserved communities often meant low expectations and limited opportunities. This summit represents a commitment to overcoming those barriers by fostering education, innovation, and empowerment. Through workshops, engaging activities, and access to resources, the summit aims to inspire youth to challenge stereotypes, embrace their potential, and envision a future shaped by resilience and determination.
As someone who grew up navigating these barriers firsthand, this summit is deeply personal and represents a full-circle moment. The event provides youth and families with access to knowledge and tools to break generational cycles and build a stronger, more inclusive community.
