Adapted for the stage from the children’s book of the same title, this theatre production brings the story of Emma Tenayuca, an activist, labor leader, educator, and Chicana hero to life. This play honors Emma and her leadership of the 1938 Southern Pecan Shelling Company worker’s strike. Carmen Tafolla, Sharyll Tenayuca, and Terry Ybanez authored and illustrated the original children’s book. This performances was first seen at The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.
