More than 90,000 households in San Antonio are cost burdened and spending more than 30% of their income on rent or a mortgage. A call for more affordable housing options was reflected in the City’s first Affordable Housing Bond to build new and protect existing homes.
To share the City’s progress and challenges, the four partners of the City’s Strategic Housing Implementation – the City of San Antonio, the San Antonio Housing Trust, Opportunity Home San Antonio and Bexar County – are hosting Housing in San Antonio to connect communities to housing resources and opportunities and have conversations on initiatives, programs and services.
The event will include:
- Free breakfast tacos and snacks
- Youth activities with the San Antonio Public Library
- A produce bag distribution in collaboration with the San Antonio Food Bank
- A resource fair with more than 40 local organizations
- Community conversations on housing topics
- Videos about renters’ rights, property tax help, and housing and homelessness
- Spanish and American Sign Language interpretation
