DreamWeek Is…

Exchanging Ideas. Inspiring Discussion. Igniting Change.

Each annual DreamWeek San Antonio Summit comprises a series of events designed with a singular purpose in mind: to foster the free exchange of ideas on universal issues affecting humanity. The aim is to invite all to participate in an open forum where real-world issues are discussed in a civil manner, with the understanding that the truest voices will always prevail. Events can take a variety of forms, from symposiums, panel discussions and debates to film screenings, concerts and art exhibits.

Revealing The Genius Within

For a more Enlightened Society

DreamWeek San Antonio (DWSA) is an annual, multi-day summit dedicated to celebrating humanity by creating environments for civil and civic engagement. Its core purpose is to foster the exchange of ideas and dreams for the common good, ultimately revealing the inherent “community genius” within San Antonio.

Held each January, coinciding with the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy, DreamWeek provides a broad platform for dialogue on universal issues affecting humanity. Through a diverse array of community-curated events—ranging from symposiums, panel discussions, and debates to film screenings, concerts, and art exhibits—DWSA aims to:

  • Bridge divides and create a sense of belonging for all.
  • Empower individuals with the understanding and education needed for peaceful coexistence.
  • Create networking opportunities for organizations working to better the human condition.
  • Amplify the voices of the community to inspire discussion and ignite change.

San Antonio

A City Aged In Culture And Heritage

The first permanent settlement of San Antonio was founded over 300 years ago on the site of the Coahuiltecan Native American village. Beginning with the establishment of a presidio, town and five Franciscan missions along the river, San Antonio has grown to the seventh largest city in the U.S.  Welcoming over 30 million visitors annually, we offer unique attractions for all ages and all ethnicities including the River Walk, Alamo and Hemisfair Park.

In 2015, the Alamo and San Antonio Missions National Historic Park were officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of twenty-four in the United States.

San Antonio is a city of a confluence of rich and diverse cultures. The city’s unique history has laid a foundation for people of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds to coexist and thrive as one community. San Antonio is one of a handful of major U.S. cities which classifies as a majority-minority city.

The Alamo City is also home to an often unconventional, and ever-growing art scene, a downtown replete with niche restaurants and boutiques, and annual city-wide festivals that celebrate San Antonio and its storied cultures. The city proudly hosts one of the largest MLK Day marches in the nation (A DreamWeek marker), with estimates of over 300,000 participants on the route.

DreamVoice LLC

Creating Connections for the Common Good

The vision for a more connected and understanding community truly took flight in 2011 with the establishment of DreamVoice, LLC by Shokare Nakpodia. This pivotal moment laid the groundwork for what would become DreamWeek San Antonio, an annual summit designed to ignite dialogue and foster unity. Just two years later, in 2013, the inaugural DreamWeek San Antonio summit made its powerful debut, featuring a remarkable collaboration of 20 partners and hosting 35 impactful events right here in San Antonio. From that initial spark, DreamWeek San Antonio has grown exponentially, becoming a cornerstone of civic engagement in our city.
