Presa House Gallery is excited to host the release of NOPALLI’s first full-length album, Pasos y Ritmos. A Latin Rock band with deep roots in the San Antonio music scene, NOPALLI’s members are vocalist Alvaro “Iztli” Ramirez, drummer John Fernandez, violinist Robert “Sabor” Sabo, and the recipient of the City of San Antonio Department of Arts & Culture 2022 Individual Artist Grant, bassist Carlos Sanchez De La Garza. Pasos y Ritmos was recorded at Studio E and pressed on nopal-green 180-gram vinyl and will be available for purchase the night of the event. “Phantom in the Headlights” is an exhibition by Texas-based artist Jesus Trevino that takes a closer look at transgenerational histories, experiences, and collective and long-term trauma concerning his personal experience. His work is rooted in his upbringing on the U.S./Mexico border and deals with the erasure of history, displacement of people, and its residual personal, emotional, and social effects. Trevino (b. 1995, Brownsville, TX) received a B.A. in Studio Art from UT-RGV in 2018 and his MFA in Painting/Drawing at UT-Austin. Most recently, he attended the Desert Door Residency (2022) and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Madison, ME (2022).
