Event Details

As part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the Sankofa Institute invites you to participate in this Christian Unity Service at 7PM on January 24, 2020 at the Immaculate Conception Chapel on the campus of Oblate School of Theology. The guest preacher is Rev. Dr. Jerry W. Dailey of Macedonia Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. During the service, the Sankofa Institute will present its annual Excellence in Education Award.

Join us in a Celebration of Christian Unity and an interdenominational worship service that includes, Praise, Song and Dance, Preaching and Prayer for Justice and Unity in our times. At this event, we will also recognize an Awardee for Lifetime Commitment to Excellence in Education in the Black Community. Reception follows.

This Christian Unity Service is the opening event for the Sankofa Institute’s annual conference, “Come, Taste and See,” which is an opportunity to explore a pathway to theological higher education for those who seek ministerial formation and professional leadership development with black religious scholars committed to the vocation of educating transformational leaders for African American communities and communities of African descent living in North America.

Renowned scholars, authors and professors who are members of the Council of Elders or who teach in the present lectures give a “taste” of the breadth, depth and quality of instruction offered through the Institute. Sankofa Scholars will be available to share their experiences. Administrative staff will be available to answer questions about application, registration, and scholarship opportunities.
