Please join artists from The Classic Theatre of San Antonio’s production of “Fences,” by August Wilson, to discuss the playwright and our upcoming production of his Pulitzer Prize winning work. Don’t miss this behind-the-scenes peek at our show!

In the play, a former African American League baseball player struggles to co-exist with the racial trauma he still carries from his time in the sport. When his frustrations lead to a series of tragic choices, his relationships with his wife and son suffer the consequences. Set in the 1950s, it is the sixth in Wilson’s ten-part “Pittsburgh Cycle”. “Fences” explores the evolving Black American experience and examines race relations, among other themes.
