We celebrate stories of people who have helped create a better future giving us courage, compassion, and generosity to do the same.

Dr. Doshie Piper, UIW Associate Professor of Criminal Justice https://www.uiw.edu/chass/directory/faculty-and-staff/piper-doshie.html and Cary Clack https://www.expressnews.com/author/cary-clack/  of the San Antonio Express News will share.

“As One We Will,” a University of the Incarnate Word organization for social justice that grew after the death of George Floyd, is leading a week-long series remembering new stories each day.  On the last day, gather with them to remember some known and unknown heroes through poetry, history, and literature.  UIW senior Gerald Bowie and UIW graduate T.J. Wright bring together talent and wisdom from the campus and also invite young people to share the stories that touch them. Stories can transform our horizons, heal our hearts, and lead us into a brighter future. “As One We Will” builds on their successful celebration of Juneteenth at UIW which was spotlighted in a special edition of the Logos, the UIW student newspaper  https://issuu.com/uiwlogosnewspaper/docs/logos_vol._121_no._8_juneteenth_2021  and in a news report by UIW TV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRYcxU0Jeb8&t=1s

Considering the Dream Week theme this year, “Our Future.”  we recognize and hear stories of the challenges, the stories of those who faced them and moved forward,  we get strength for our future.
