Event Details

The DreamHour Speaker Series is made up of leaders within the local community, sharing their experiences and their hopes for creating a better tomorrow.

Vanessa Eva Tobares

(Pronouns: She/Her)

Vanessa is a proud native of San Antonio and the youngest daughter of hardworking parents from Coahuila, Mexico and Southeast San Antonio. She attended Brackenridge High School and the University of Texas at San Antonio, where her studies focused on Industrial and Organizational Psychology and Management.

While growing up and throughout her education, she received a great amount of support from her family, many community programs, and others, so she wished to give back. In 2009-2010, she participated in AmeriCorps, which changed her career trajectory, and she has been working for educational and nonprofit organizations and programs since then.

In San Antonio, she has previously served as the Program Manager for a citywide collective impact grant for Latinx Student Success and the Project Director of capacity building grants to support STEM students and faculty at St. Mary’s University. She currently serves as the Health Equity Strategist at Methodist Healthcare Ministries, where she supports the organization on its journey towards health equity in South Texas.
