All human beings have the capacity for compassion. It is part of our very being. But so is fear and the instinct to fight. Choosing to lead a life of compassion is a conscious choice, though it may be difficult to see a clear pathway from where we view the world today.
With each passing year, we seem more divided. Politics splits families. Race splits neighborhoods. Our leaders don’t seem to have any answers and social media, the very tool that was supposed to bring us all closer together, is more divisive than uniting. There has never been a greater need for us to come together to understand one another.
On an individual level, we all deal with suffering. We can be our own worst critic and there are elements of life that we believe are not fair. There are people in our lives we don’t understand and who don’t understand us. Learning about and experiencing a life of compassion begins with compassion for ourselves and culminates in our concern for everyone. This book helps us plot the course from where we find ourselves today to a life of compassion.
Join us on a journey through history with some of the world’s greatest thinkers and discover how you can apply these ideas to your modern life. You can have a life of compassion. You can be the difference for your family, your community, and even your planet.
