The Italian virtuoso pianist Leonardo Colafelice returns to San Antonio virtually for IL FAVORITO, the third concert of Season 23 of Musical Evenings at San Fernando Cathedral, a FREE concert series hosted by Musical Bridges Around the World.

Leonardo Colafelice (Italy):

Leonardo Colafelice is an Italian pianist of international repute and acclaim. Legendary pianist Martha Agerich has remarked of Colafelice as a “fabulous pianist and musician.” Colafelice was born in 1995 in Altamura (Bari), Southern Italy, and became a pupil of Pasquale Iannone at Bari’s renowned Niccolò Piccinni Conservatory of Music, where he later graduated.

Leonardo most recently won the Bronze Medal as well as the Audience Favorite Award at The Gurwitz 2020 International Piano Competition. This comes along with numerous other international wins: Second Prize, Audience Prize, Junior Jury Prize, and Best Performance of a Russian Piece in the 2016 Cleveland International Piano Competition; finalist of the 2019 China International Music Competition; finalist in the 2014 Tel Aviv Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition; and numerous Gold Medals and First Prizes from US competitions throughout 2012 and 2013.

Colafelice currently teaches as Principal Piano Teacher at the Matera Conservatory of Music in Italy, the school where he first started his piano studies. He has also performed in Italy and abroad, with orchestras including The Cleveland Orchestra and The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
