This event will engage community stakeholders in a keynote and panel discussion about a fair chance ordinance to encourage employment and housing of formerly incarcerated people and to prevent discrimination against the 1/3rd of our community with conviction records. A fair chance ordinance would increase restorative justice by eliminating barriers to housing and employment.
The keynote will be Lauren Johnson of the ACLU of Texas. Panelists are Nour Awad of Easy Expunctions, Dr. Cathy Martson of Free Battered Texas Woman and Adrianne House of Eastpoint Promise Coalition. Panel Moderator: Dr. Doshie Piper of the University of Incarnate Word.
