Sankofa is an African word from the Akan tribe which translates to “go back to the past and bring forward that which is useful.” With “sankofa” we honor our history and cultural stories while envisioning and imagining brighter and promising futures. This exhibit will feature work from members of the African American Quilt Circle of San Antonio highlighting themes of our history, present and futures weaving rich stories through fabric art.
