ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE

Since 2017, the DoSeum has partnered with professional mid-career artists who seek ways to challenge the young curious minds of San Antonio through their art and encourage them to engage with the exhibits through activities that provoke them to think outside of the box. The Artist-in-Residence exhibits provide children with the opportunity to interact with their work and appreciate the artistic process while still connecting themes of STEM and literacy.

The DoSeum is thrilled to exhibit two artists this year. From November 21, 2019, to January 12, 2020, the DoSeum will host Amanda Miller and Mark Menjivar.

Amanda Miller is a San Antonio-based artist and has had her work exhibited all over the world. Her “Making Scents of Outer Space” exhibit will allow visitors to follow their noses around the universe blending art and science while their sense of smell brings to life distant worlds.

Mark Menjivar is also an artist based in San Antonio and an Assistant Professor in the School of Art and Design at Texas State University. His “Birding The DoSeum” exhibit encourages participants to look, listen, explore the world of birds by learning to identify and distinguish between them.

Both artists will host several workshops throughout their residency at The DoSeum. Visitors will have a chance to interact with the artists to create projects related to their exhibits. Please see the calendar of events for more information.
