Event Details

The Delta Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and the UIW Ettling Center Civic Leadership and Sustainability will be hosting a panel discussion about the state of politics and the level of distrust communities have toward government.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear and speak on issues of voter suppression, voter rights, and existing barriers to being able to vote that aided in building this form of a Laissez-faire voting culture we see in America today.

The goal of this discussion is to address reasons voters, in particularly minority and other marginalized populations, have become disengaged with the democratic process, and encourage people to participate in the voting process while continuing to eradicate barriers to the process.

In the midst of the current political climate, how do we as a society continue to galvanize our communities, and express the importance to exercise our civic duty to vote, one that many of their ancestors fought for us to obtain?
